Every woman wants
to look her best on her wedding day more than any other day in her life. Of
course, the desire to look and feel our most beautiful, inside and out, is at
its peak on our wedding day. You want your skin to glow and your smile to be the
brightest of all. You want to look gorgeous and stunning on this special day of
your life. To make this happen if you plan ahead for your overall beauty, makeup
and hairstyle on your wedding day. It is a good idea to experiment beforehand to
find the look that you want. It is advisable to consult a professional for this
task.
MAKEUP
A very clean and natural look is
recommended for today's bride. One of the best ways to achieve this look is to
know your skin type. It is important to use the correct foundation for your skin
type and colour. If you have oily skin, choose a water-based matte foundation
that will not add unwanted oil to your skin. If you have dry skin, then a fluid
foundation may benefit your skin with its added oils.
Your
foundation should blend in with your natural skin tone. Once you have applied
the foundation, you may want to check the colour in the sunlight because other
types of lighting may affect appearances. You will know that you have a good
match with your skin colour if the foundation on your jaw line matches your
neck.
To
get your makeup to last throughout the busy day and look good in photos, it is
important to use powder. Not only will powder "set" the makeup giving it a
longer lasting effect, but it also helps in reducing unwanted shine. You may
want to reapply powder throughout the day.
Your wedding is an emotional
day, so everything you put on your face (especially mascara) should be
waterproof and smudge-proof. Also, it is important to have a fresh tube of
mascara on your wedding day because older mascara has a tendency to
clump.
Some important tips for
applying makeup:
- Use a foundation close
to your natural skin colour.
- Apply powder lightly
to your face and neck.
- Line your eyes with a
brown pencil.
- Avoid frosted eyeliner
or eyeshadow.
- Curl your eyelashes
and apply brown or black mascara. (Make sure it doesn't clump.)
- Apply a flattering
blush to your cheekbones and blend upwards.
- Line your lips with a
pencil and then apply lipstick. Add gloss if you
prefer.
HAIR
Bridal
hairstyles need to reflect the brides' personality and personal style. Colouring
you hair may add flattering touches to your overall look, especially in photos.
Have your hair cut and coloured two to three weeks before the wedding to aviod
the new cut and coloured look. You can wear your hair up, down, or just choose
the best styles you like from a book.
If
your hair is long and you wear it pulled back most of the time than an elegant
'Updo' would be just the look. You can also do your hairstyle with knots and
rolls. If you wear your long hair down most of the time then try wearing some of
it up away from your face and leave the rest to cascade around your shoulders.
Let few tendrils escape to float around your face, they can be curled or left
natural.
If
your hair is medium in length it can be curled and worn with a sparkly headband
or tiara to dress it up. Or simply tuck some hair behind your ears and use one
of the very popular decorative hair clips to hold it back.
If
you have short hair then you need not worry coz you can do lots with your hair.
Dust off your curling iron and give your hair some fullness in the crown area
and back. Don't curl the front, it won't look like you. Sweep the hair off to
the side and save the curls for the back area.
It is
also important for the style you choose to hold up through the ceremony and
reception but using too much hair spray can make your hair look stiff and
unnatural. Ask your stylist for advice and discuss your hairstyle before the
wedding.
NAILS
Your nails also require care and
attention on your wedding day. Go for a professional
manicure before the wedding. Regular
manicures help to keep your hands and fingernails in good condition. Ask about
exfoliation treatments for your hands as well. Hand exfoliation treatments leave
the skin smooth and beautiful. And don't forget your feet. A pedicure and foot massage will help get your
feet ready for a long day of standing.
Some
important tips that you should follow a month earlier to your wedding for
beautiful nails:
- Start getting weekly manicures.
- Use a nail-building base coat under your polish.
If you're
a nail-biter, coat your nails with polish that tastes so bitter it stops you
from nibbling.
- Protect your nails from harsh chemicals by wearing rubber
gloves when doing dishes and other household chores.
- Apply a heavy dose of hand cream at bedtime to prevent dry,
cracking skin and cover with cotton gloves before going to
sleep.
SKIN AND BODY
Many brides
diet so that they can look their best for their wedding day. However, it is
important not to starve yourself. Eating right and exercising will not only help
you look great but also feel great for the special
event.
Join a Gym or Start Walking You want to
be in the best shape ever for your new husband...so splurge a little and join a
gym. Get a personal trainer and get to work! If you just can't afford to join a
gym, get out and start walking, jogging or join swimming if you know how to
swim.
Drink A Lot of Water Start drinking at least 8 glasses of
water a day. Yes, it sounds like a lot but its worth it. Water flushes toxins
out of your system - you can look forward to clearer skin and better health. In
addition, water helps you feel full, so you may be inclined to eat
less!
Get Regular Facials General skin exfoliation provided by good
facials, removes dead skin cells from your face and makes your skin glow. Choose
a salon and start getting facials every 5 weeks from now until the wedding day.
(Do not get a facial on the wedding day though - your skin may appear abnormally
flushed.)
